Unlocking Sustainable Success: Becoming a Certified B Corp

Introduction

Since our inception, ebi have recognised the importance of aligning our values with our business operations. We placed sustainability at the heart of our proposition, therefore the decision to embark on the path towards B Corp Certification was a clear choice.

After a two-year journey, we are proud to have joined a community of like-minded companies in transforming the global economy into a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative system.

What is a B Corp?

B Corp Certification is a designation that a business has achieved “the high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency” on social and environmental performance. Companies legally commit to changing their corporate governance and are transparent in publishing their performance against B Lab’s standards.

Globally, there are over 6,500 B Corps, operating in 161 industries, across 89 countries.

Businesses are assessed across six performance categories including the environment, communities, customers, suppliers, employees and shareholders. ebi achieved 105.3 points, well in excess of the B Corp minimum verified score of 80 points.

Why become a B Corp?

ebi has always differentiated itself from competitors by setting our own agenda. As an investment management firm, we sought to not only generate financial returns, but also to make positive impacts on society, the environment and corporate governance. Through becoming a B Corp, ebi has been independently validated in upholding and promoting ESG principles within the business itself, and its product offerings.

A business like ebi is only as good as its people, and only through employing and retaining the best talent, can we achieve our objectives. The B Corp Certification process has allowed us to reflect on how the business is run, its values, and creating a working environment that people want to join.

B Corp Certification has rigorously assessed ebi’s transparency and accountability in its business practices with its stakeholders, including its employees, customers and suppliers. All of which helps build trust and enhance our reputation with all our stakeholders that ebi is a business of purpose and integrity.

The most exciting aspect of B Corp accreditation is becoming part of a much larger community of businesses striving to make business a force for good. We look forward to connecting with like-minded organisations and learning from their experience, helping to drive improved social and environmental outcomes.

ebi is proud to begin its journey of positive change, and play its role in the wider B Corp movement in reinventing business. Only through collaboration do “we become, what we think.”
